Texas, a small town outside Houston. The daughter
of European parents (her father is Swiss and
her mother Norwegian), Renee had an older brother
that she greatly admired. As she approached
fame, Renee was encouraged to change her name
to one that would be more marketable. She refused
to do so, as her and her brother were the first
Zellwegers born in the United States.
After she came into the public's eye with Jerry
Maguire, a lot of industry insiders believed
that for all Renee Zellweger's warmth and charm,
she would never amount to more than a run-of-the-mill
flavor of the month; an actress who would look
good for a while but would never achieve greatness...
After years of hard labor in small independent
films, Renee Zellweger landed her breakthrough
