Naomi Watts,
a British-born, Australian-raised feisty blonde,
offers a lot for interested viewers to chew
onscreen. Her depth and focus as an actor are
being recognized as first-rate while many men
stand close to the screen to get a better look
at her. She's a well-rounded babe from down
under, stealing a page from long-time friend
Nicole Kidman's book.
This Aussie does more than just contort minds
with her acting skills; she drives us wild anticipating
her next release, so that we can get our "Watts"
fix. Although she's a relative newcomer to the
Hollywood A-list, it did not take us long to
add her to our list of favorites.
Naomi Watts' career post-Mulholland Drive has
skyrocketed, with starring roles in the film
short Ellie Parker and the blockbuster thriller
The Ring, which hit the No. 1 spot at the box-office
in its opening weekend and has already made
more than $80 million in four weeks of release.
She can soon add The Kelly Gang, 21 Grams (with
Benicio Del Toro and Sean Penn) and Le Divorce
(with Kate Hudson) to her resume.
With The Kelly Gang and fellow Aussie Heath
Ledger by her side, it's clear that Naomi Watts
has a bright Hollywood future ahead of her. |

AUSTRALIAN actress Naomi Watts says nothing
prepared her for a life-changing trip to Africa
visiting children orphaned by HIV/AIDS.
The 37-year-old has spoken for the first time
about her new role as the United Nation's special
representative for HIV/AIDS.
In the August edition of the Australian Women's
Weekly, Watts said she was devastated by what
she saw during her visit to Zambia this year.
"I saw children raising children and I
can't tell you how it affected me," Watts
said.
"You see nine-year-olds raising their brothers
and sisters. The tragedy is not just losing
their parents to AIDS, but how their lives afterwards
can become so violent. They explained how they
had to fend for themselves on the streets –
stealing and selling themselves to survive."
Watts interrupted her busy film schedule to
visit Africa. She is set to appear in three
films next year: The Painted Veil, Funny Games
and Eastern Promises. |
