Name: Jennifer Lopez
Birth Date: July 24, 1970
Birth Place: New York City, USA
Occupation: Singer/ Actress
was born in New York City, on July 24, 1970.
The daughter of David, a computer programmer,
and Guadalupe, a kindergarten teacher, the young
Lopez always dreamed of becoming a performer.
With talents in singing and dancing, Jennifer
began performing in stage musicals, dancing
in a European tour of Golden Musicals of Broadway,
a Japanese tour of Synchronicity, and local
productions of Oklahoma and Jesus Christ Superstar.
J.Lo got her big start on the TV comedy hit
In Living Color (1990) as a "Fly Girl"
dancer. But bigger and better things were on
the horizon for Jenny as she moved onto the
silver screen in Money Train (1995) and Selena
(1997). And before we could say, "Hey,
who's that hot Puerto Rican chick?" Jennifer
released an album called On The 6 (1999). It
was certified three times platinum, and every
song and movie since (except for 2003's Gigli)
has been J.Lo gold.
On June 5, 2004, Jennifer Lopez made headlines
again, this time because she and Latin pop singer
Marc Anthony exchanged vows in a "surprise"
wedding. Although rumors of the nuptials were
circulating, fans were still stunned to hear
that J.Lo is on her third marriage.
At the 2005 Grammy awards, Jennifer and Marc
performed together for the first time as husband
and wife. It was perfect timing, as J.Lo's fourth
studio album, Rebirth, hit stores on March 1,
2005. The first single, "Get Right,"
is making its way up the charts.
She is also enjoying a commercial "rebirth"
with her latest fashion line, Sweet Face. J.Lo
is also starring with Beyonce and Becks in a
martial arts-inspired Pepsi commercial called
The decision by Jennifer Lopez to quit the film Dallas intrigued a lot of industry watchers and fueled speculations on the health of the film which has seen frequent changes in its cast and crew. Lopez was to play the part of Ewing's alcoholic wife, Sue Ellen, with John Travolta playing the unscrupulous cowboy-hat wearing tycoon JR Ewing in the 20th Century production directed by ‘Bend it like Beckham’ director Gurinder Chaddha.
Though Lopez has been tight lipped about the reasons that prompted her to leave the project, PageSix, quoting an industry insider, reports that a sub par script and less-than-strapping John Travolta triggered the walk out. "The script sucks," said their source, "And John Travolta? If it had been a man's man like Ed Harris or Tommy Lee Jones . . . but you don't just go from doing 'Hairspray' to 'Dallas.' "
The film Hairspray, based on the similarly named Broadway production, is a musical comedy set for release in 2007 in which John Travolta plays the role of Edna Turnblad.
The film Dallas is based on the US television prime time soap that ran from 1978 to 1991. The serial dealt with love and betrayal among Texan oil magnates and was widely exported around the world. Australian Robert Luketic, who directed Lopez in "Monster-in-Law" and Reese Witherspoon in "Legally Blonde," was originally named as the director for the film but quit the project earlier this year citing "creative differences".
Jennifer Lopez is currently filming for Bordertown in which the singer plays a reporter from Chicago who travels to the Mexican border town of Juarez to investigate the unsolved killings of some 300 women over 13-year period.
