Alicia (pronounced
Uh-liss-ee-uh) Silverstone was born on October
4, 1976 in San Francisco, California. The daughter
of Monty, a real estate investor and financial
consultant, and Didi, a former airline stewardess,
Silverstone traveled to England with her family
during summer vacations to visit relatives.
Silverstone's time in the spotlight began as
a model at the age of 6, after her father began
taking pictures of her to submit to modeling
agencies. Although her heart was really in acting,
Silverstone landed several modeling gigs for
companies such as Levi's Dockers and Marshalls.
The modeling jobs led to television commercials
-- such as a spot in a Domino's Pizza ad --
which eventually led to appearances on sitcoms,
most notably as a "dream girl" in
The Wonder Years in 1992.
How many actresses can claim to be equally famous
for playing bad girls and nice girls? Spunky
Alicia is in a class of her own. Also, we just
can't resist the way she coyly curls her lips
when she talks.
Also known for her starring role in the famous
Aerosmith video trilogy, Alicia made her silver
screen debut in The Crush (1993), and followed
it up with roles in Clueless (1995), Batman
& Robin (1997), Blast from the Past (1999),
Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004), Beauty
Shop (2005), and Stormbreaker (2006). |

SWORN vegan Alicia Silverstone looks as if someone
has just offered her a lamb chop.
A faux pas by the French journalist who interviewed
her before me is ringing in her ears.
The blundering Parisian dared suggest Silverstone
looked more like a mum in teen spy flick Stormbreaker
than a young hero's funky nanny. The Clueless
star, who appears with Ewan McGregor and Mickey
Rourke in the film, was temporarily speechless.
"Most people tell me I look so young,"
says a well made-up Silverstone, looking neither
older nor younger than her age. She turns 30
on October 4.
"I was thinking when we were shooting Stormbreaker,
'Does this look bad, do we look like brother
and sister?' But that comment has confirmed
that's not the case.".
Chatting in a suite at London's Savoy hotel,
Silverstone is soon back to her bubbly self
and reveals age is on her mind as her birthday
approaches
Working alongside teen actor Alex Pettyfer,
16, she couldn't help but reminisce about her
own start in the film industry what seems like
an age ago |
